The Chief Engineers Association is a not-for-profit, fraternal organization comprised of men and women in leadership positions within the field of power engineering and real estate asset management.

For over 90 years, the Chief Engineers Association has brought educational services, information and camaraderie to its members through the publication of "The Chief Engineer" magazine, educational meetings and social gatherings throughout the Chicago area. The "Chief Engineer Magazine" is published monthly and has a list of subscribers from throughout the United States and Canada.

Membership in the Chief Engineers Association is open to individuals who work within the industries of power engineering and/or real estate asset management and who serve in supervisory positions. Members would pay a one time petition fee of $30.00, and dues of $50.00 per year. Associate members pay $30.00 per year. This entitles them to receive the monthly copy of our magazine, attend the monthly educational meetings where dinner and cocktails are provided and the opportunity to attend other social activities such as the annual picnic at no additional cost to active members and for a $30 dinner and drink fee for associate members. In addition, members have the opportunity of attending other Association activities such as the annual golf outing, the annual dinner dance and the vendor fair.

Proceeds obtained from subscriptions and dues pay for the administration of the organization, educational meetings, and also fund the Chief Engineers Scholarship Program. This program provides 4-year, $10,000, scholarships to 4 students each year. Scholarships are awarded based upon merit and are open to any student attending, or planning to attend a 4-year college or university. Students need not be related to a member nor associated with the Chief Engineers Association to apply. Information pertaining to scholarships may be obtained from the Association by contacting us via email, letter or telephone.

The Chief Engineers Association also provides Associate Membership to the organization to manufacturers, distributors and consultants. Associate membership permits attendance at all Association functions and allows networking and information exchange between members and associate members. Associate members must advertise within the Chief Engineer Magazine and/or upon the Chief Engineer Website. Associate members are provided the opportunity to co-sponsor one of the 12 educational meetings each year where they may introduce new products and/or technology to the membership attending. Co-sponsors pay a capped fee of $5,000 for the meeting, with the Chief Engineers Association paying the remaining fees of approximately $25,000. Advertising rates within the Chief Engineer Magazine are purposely kept to a minimum to allow small entrepreneurs and start-up companies the opportunity to participate.

The Association is operated through a Board of Directors, comprised of elected members of the Association. Each member of the Association has a vote in all elections to the Board of Directors. Associate members may not vote in elections of board members nor upon motions made at meetings of the Association. Members of the Board of Directors serve without compensation throughout their term in office and generally devote 20 hours or more of service to the Association each month.

A professional staff is maintained to run the day-to-day activities of the Association and to publish the Chief Engineer magazine.

The motto of the Association is: "Anything that can be done, can be done better." This motto epitomizes the philosophy of the Association that through education and hard work, we can together advance our profession and improve upon providing safe and productive environments for the tenants and fellow workers within our facilities.

If you would like to join our Association as an active or associate member, you may do so by completing the "Join Us" form on this site. Membership applications are reviewed by the membership committee and brought before the board of directors each month for approval. If you would like to forgo membership but subscribe to the Chief Engineer magazine, you may do so for an annual subscription rate of $36.00 by subscribing through our "Catalog" on this site..

If you have any additional question about us please contact us using the "Contact Us" form.

Thank you for stopping by, and we look forward to seeing you at one of our next meetings.
