Fuel Gas Conditioning Skid Utilizes Filtration and Superheating

Because today's gas turbines require the highest standards of clean, dry gas to operate at full efficiency, Watlow Process Systems (WPS) offers a state-of-the-art fuel gas conditioning skid that integrates expertise in filtration and superheating to fully condition fuel gas.

Providing these components on a single package that is interconnected and tested prior to field shipment reduces installation and start-up time ? a critical benefit in today's fast-moving power generation industry. The entire system is designed and fabricated by Watlow, a company with experience in all of the major component areas, including instrumentation, control systems, pipe and skid fabrication, seismic and stress calculations and thermal heating systems.

"Our goal with this product was to take all of the traditional components in a fuel conditioning system and integrate them into a single package," explains Joe Foreman, Watlow Process Systems General Manager. "Removal of entrained liquids, particulate filtration and other components are completely integrated, reducing equipment foot print size, overall system cost and field installation time."
Watlow's fuel gas conditioning skids are a response to customers' requests. Clients were purchasing equipment from "skidders" that did not manufacture the critical components and thus did not have the technical experience or depth to effectively support design and testing of the systems. Watlow's background in mechanical skids, thermal process heating and instrumentation provides a sound understanding of the complete system and allows Watlow to offer integrated fuel conditioning skids directly to customers.

Watlow's fuel gas conditioning skids are designed for many different customers in the power generation market, including gas turbine OEMs, engineering firms specializing in plant layout, procurement and construction, and power producers or utilities that directly purchase these systems.

All skids go through rigorous testing prior to shipment, including functional testing of the system and hydrotesting and leak testing of the piping. Additionally, Watlow offers special drying procedures, often requested to verify the heat exchanger and piping are free from water, rust and mechanical scale.

For additional information or the name of the nearest Watlow representative phone 1-800-4-WATLOW or visit their website at www.watlow.com.
