EnviroGard Reflective Roof Coating to Address Environmental Concerns

Honeywell Commercial Roofing Systems offers EnviroGard?, a reflective roof coating designed to provide the roof membrane with an extra layer of protection in addition to superior reflective properties. The product's reflective qualities help lower the membrane temperature, reducing the building's energy demands while also reducing the amount of heat being emitted into the environment ? a growing concern in some urban areas.

A 100 percent acrylic blend fortified with a concentrated level of titanium dioxide pigment, EnviroGard provides a bright white, elastomeric protective film compatible with a variety of roof surfaces. Applying a reflective roof coating can add value to a building by extending its roof's serviceable life.

"Smooth and granular surfaced roof membranes suffer more from the effects of heat, accelerated thermal cycling and ultra violet exposure," said William Spencer, Manager of Business Development at Honeywell. "The EnviroGard reflective roof coating effectively lowers the roof membrane temperature, reducing thermal shock stresses that can damage the membrane."

EnviroGard contains adhesion promoters, UV blockers and fungicides to resist discoloration from environmental contaminates, and limit membrane deterioration due to UV exposure, oxidative weakening and biological growth. EnviroGard meets current environmental requirements and applicable VOC standards.

With a cold flexibility to ?30ºF, EnviroGard can withstand the stresses of cold as well as hot climates.

A highly reflective, energy saving coating, EnviroGard can be applied over smooth or granular surfaced asphalt built-up roofs and asphalt and coal tar modified bitumen membranes.

An EnviroGard primer is also available for roof membranes that require a pre-treatment to reduce the chances of coating discoloration caused by oils leaching from the roof membrane.

EnviroGard roof coating requires no heating or thinning before application. The coating can be applied using a roofing brush, long nap roller or airless sprayer.
