NEMA Offers Industry Standards on the Net
Responding to user requests for ready access to the most recent version of
industry standards, the Industrial Automation Control Products and Systems Section
of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) is continuing its
program of providing free access to industry standards. Users can view or download
NEMA automation and control standards via the Internet, including new and newly
revised versions of these standards. Standards users now have easy access to
the most recent versions of these standards. Users are encouraged to regularly
check the site for additions or changes to these standards.
The NEMA industrial automation and control standards are widely used in the
U.S. and abroad. Covering a broad range of products used to control and automate
industrial industrial equipment, many of the standards are closely aligned with
the standards of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). However,
NEMA standards have the advantage of having been specifically developed to reflect
requirements of the U.S. electrical system.
Many of the standards were approved, or reaffirmed, in 2000 or 2001. New updated
standards will be posted as they are approved. A brief description of each standard
is provided on the web page www.nema.org/engineering/icsstandards.html, as well
as a link to the document.
Hard copies of the standards will continue to be sold through Global Engineering
(800/854-7179). This will give users a range of options to access NEMA standards.
