President's Message November, 2008
Hello To Everyone!
This month is going to be a very exciting month. We have Thanksgiving for
everyone to enjoy and we have the presidential election, by which we will know
who is
going to be our next commander and chief for the following four years. This
person is facing a lot of very hard work given the state of our economic situation,
the war, and the financial crisis that we share as a nation. It is not one
that
any of us want to see nor be a part of. Unfortunately, though, we are living
it.
The leaves have changed and fallen, the weather has gotten cooler, the grass
does not need cutting or watering, and the pools have been put up for the winter.
We are, or have, prepared our buildings and homes for the cold temperatures
and conditions that the soon-to-be-here winter weather brings us each and every
year.
We will continue to close up, pack up and work hard to winterize our systems
and be prepared as much as possible for those cold, cold days and night. For
those that enjoy the upcoming winter, I wish them the best. And for those who
will be filled with longing for those days of summer, all I can say is that
they will return next year.
On to current things. The Chief Engineers Association held our annual Octoberfest
and even though it was moved to a new location, I believe it was received with
great success. Change is good, and with the relocation of this event, it looks
like it was a good change. I thank the sponsors of the Octoberfest which were
Hill Environmental Operations, Infrared Inspections, Kleen Air Service, and
U.S. Fire & Safety. Mark your calendars for November 19, 2008, at the Beau Jolie,
located at 9950 W. Lawrence in Schiller Park for our next general meeting. Doors
open at 5:30 pm. Come out and see what co-sponsor Metropolitan Industries has
to help you with current and future needs. I ask that when in need for products
and services you keep our Associate members in mind. Whenever you see fit or
the opportunity arises to give a preference or recommendation, let’s
not forget our associate members. They help support this organization and we
need
to support them as well.
With the holiday season upon us, I ask that all of us keep in our thoughts
and prayers the armed forces. So many of these men and women will not be
able to
enjoy this time with their family and friends because they are too far away,
fighting to protect us and our country. I have said it before and will say
it again - Without the bravery and dedication of the men and women who serve
and
protect our country we could not live and be free as we do.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
