President's Message, April 2008
It’s Spring!!!!!
Well, we have made it through another winter in the great city of Chicago.
March 20th marked the start of spring and so we will all be busy getting the
yards
in shape, the boats in the water, and getting ready to enjoy the summer.
The March general meeting was a good time for all and The Chief Engineers
Association would like to thank Anchor Mechanical, Glavin Security Specialists,
Nolan Boiler,
DP Systems, Motion Industries, and Parkway Elevator for co-sponsoring this
event.
This month is our Bi-Annual Vendor Fair. A lot of hard work has gone into making
this happen. We could not have this event if the chairman, co-chairman, and
members of this committee did not work so hard to put it on. So make it a point
to come
out on April 16th and visit all the vendors at their booths to see what they
have to offer in their product line and get to know them. It is being held
at the White Eagle Banquets in Niles. Have dinner with us and don’t forget
to stay around for the raffle, “Winners Choice” of a Harley Davidson
Sportster 1200 or $10,000.00. I hope you have the winning ticket.
In May our general meeting will be held at Carmichaels and our co-sponsor
will be Dearborn Companies. Be sure to send back the postage paid card so that
we
can order food and seating for this event.
I would like to recognize all of our members in the Chief Engineers Association
of Chicagoland that has served or are currently serving in the armed forces
and I ask that you please let us know who you are. Please write in telling
us your
name, rank, which branch of service, and the years that you served. I am sure
there are many of you that none of us know about and I would like to know who
you are.
To all members, I encourage all of you to further your education, knowledge,
and skills. There are so many things changing in our industry, from the simplest
of plugs to the complex high-tech equipment. And let’s not forget all the
wireless items. I know we hear all the time how our market is changing. It is
us, as Chiefs, Assistant Chiefs, Leads, Supervisors, and Managers, that must
stay on top of these things so we can make those recommendations to owner’s
representatives, owners, and those involved with capital project and/or improvements.
In addition, we must be fully educated to direct and train our crews so they
can operate the equipment and buildings to optimum capabilities and energy
efficiencies.
As always, when looking to make those purchases, I ask that you keep in mind
our Associate members for your need for products and services. Our associate
members support this organization and we need to support them when we can.
Give them the opportunity to quote/price out the things that you need.
In closing, I ask that all of you keep in your thoughts and prayers our armed
forces. They serve and protect our country so that we can live our
lives freely.
Have a Great Month.
Roland Steele
President C.E.A.C.
