President's Message, February 2008
Greetings,
I want to start by acknowledging the great turnout for the Dinner Dance.
It was a fun and exciting night for me and could not have happened without
the support
and effort given by all. Everyone that I talked to seemed to have a good time
and was pleased with the event. None of this would be possible without the
help and support of the board, our vendors, our friends, and, of course, our
active
members. I also want to congratulate Man of the Year, Tom Keaty, for his outstanding
support of the Chief Engineers Association. I would also like to congratulate
the Associate Vendor of the Year, Mike Emory of Neuco, for his outstanding
support of our association.
We are moving forward with business at hand with our annual retreat this
month. It is here that the board sets the goals for the 2008 calendar year,
reviews
the past year, and makes the necessary changes to ensure our members of the
continued commitment of the Chief Engineers Association of Chicagoland. This
is very important
to the board. So much so that they give up a Saturday to meet and go through
everything to ensure the smooth running of the organization.
With the newly elected Board of Directors it is my pleasure to welcome Barbra
Hickey and Brendan Winters to the table.
The Chief Engineer magazine is now read on five continents as a monthly publication.
The Chief Engineer is produced by our business manager, John Fanning and his
staff. My thanks go out to John for the hard work they perform in getting the
magazine out to everyone.
Mark your calendars for the February meeting which will be held at the Victoria
BeauJolie in Schiller Park on Feb. 20. Our co-sponsor for the evening will
be Associated Air Filters. Future meetings include our March celebration at
the
Irish American Heritage Center and in April we will be hosting our bi-annual
Vendor Fair.
This year at the Vendor Fair we will be holding a raffle with your choice
of a Harley Davidson or $10,000 in cash. Joe Weber is chairing our event this
year and has been working hard to make it a success. I ask everyone to please
speak
with Joe or any board member to purchase your Harley Ticket. Who knows, you
could be that lucky person.
With the winter season in full swing, Chief Engineers, Assistant Chiefs,
Leads and managers need to be looking and preparing for the spring and summer
season
in addition to our regular daily tasks. With this in mind I remind and ask
that all of you support our associate vendor members when you need to purchase
and/or
price materials and services. They support us throughout the year so let’s
return the favor. You can find them on the Chief Engineers website, www.chiefengineer.org,
the Quick Shopper card which has been mailed to all, or by calling the office
at 708.293.1720.
Sincerely,
Ron Steele
President, CEAC
