President's Message November 2006
Greetings,
I want to thank everyone that attended our Oktoberfest meeting last month.
The turnout was great and everyone had a wonderful time. Once again, I want
to thank
Heisler Green, Infrared Inspections, Kleen-Air Service, Corp., Martin Supply,
Thermodyne Mechanical and U.S. Fire and Safety for co-sponsoring this great
annual meeting.
This past summer, there was a lot of concern that the cost of natural gas
would make heating our facilities even more expensive this winter. Then in
September
and October we saw natural gas prices plummet. Dealing with these fluctuations
in the price of commodities like oil and natural gas is something that building
owners, managers and operators have to add to their responsibilities. The wrong
decision could have us locked into an unreasonably high cost for gas and no
decision could have us scrambling to find supplies. It is very important for
every Chief
to understand the dynamics inside the fuel and electricity markets. It’s
also important for them to understand their options when it comes to purchasing
these commodities.
This month our general meeting will be held at the Hyatt Regency McCormick
Place Hotel where our good friends from Airways Systems will be co-hosting
our meeting.
I look forward to seeing you there for an enjoyable and informative meeting.
Official election of the CEAC Board of Directors will also take place at
the November meeting. It is important that you show your support for the
Association
and the volunteers who give up so much time to administer to the CEAC.
So I ask that you be there to cast your vote and welcome in a new Board of
Directors.
Next month our annual Christmas Meeting will be held and once again we
will be collecting toys and cash for needy children. Representatives
of the Boys
and
Girls Club will once again be on-hand to collect your gifts and distribute
them.
On behalf of the entire CEAC Board of Directors, I want to wish you and
your loved ones a happy Thanksgiving Day!
Sincerely
Harold Hacker
President, CEAC
