President's Message May 2006
Greetings,
I want to thank all of the vendors and associate members who participated
in the Chief Engineer’s Vendor Fair last month. As you may know, we sold
out once again for this very informative and entertaining evening and Chiefs
filled
the aisles at the fair to learn of the latest products and services available
for building operations professionals.
Dan Carey did a great job as committee chairman in putting this event together
for us, and I want to personally thank Dan and his fellow committee members
for the great job they did for all of us at the fair.
This month we host our last general educational meeting of the season, which
will be co-sponsored by Dearborn Companies and held at Carmichael’s Steakhouse
in Chicago on May 17th. It should be a very informative evening and I look
forward to seeing all of you there.
As the summer begins, we gear up for our traditional summer activities beginning
in June with the annual Family Picnic. This is a great time for all active
and associate members and their families. Our now famous Harley Davidson raffle
coincides
with the picnic and tickets are available from any board member or by calling
the office. Remember, only 250 tickets are sold and the winner has the option
of receiving a new Harley or $10,000 in cash!
Summer vacations put our general meetings on hold during July and August,
but that does not mean that the Chief’s aren’t hard at work. Our
office remains open and your board continues to work on plans for the upcoming
season
of meetings.
Then in September, the 66th annual golf outing will take place at St. Andrews
in West Chicago. As usual, this event was sold out nearly a year in advance.
I want to remind our associate members that if you wish to take part in the
golf outing, you have to book early. Angelo Saccameno is once again serving
as the
chairman of the golf committee for this important event.
These summer months will put a great demand on our chillers and absorbers
as well as the electricity that keeps them running. It is important for
every Chief to ensure that their equipment is maintained at peak efficiency
levels
in order
to keep energy use to a minimum and tenant comfort to a maximum. If you
need advice or help in taking care of your equipment, I urge you to call one
of
our associate members or advertisers. It is important that we support those
who support
our profession and our organization by looking first toward them, for the
products
and services that we need.
Have a safe and fun summer.
