President's Message For November, 2004

President's Message For November, 2004

Our Octoberfest meeting saw another great turnout for the membership in what has become a very popular meeting. I want to thank all the co-sponsors who helped to make this meeting so successful.

I also want to alert our advertisers and associate members that co-sponsorship for our general meetings has been booked into the year 2006. Although that seems a long way off, the months do roll by very quickly. So I want to urge those of you who may want to co-sponsor one of our general meetings to contact the CEAC office and reserve a date.

We are entering a winter like no other ever experienced. With crude oil prices having reached an unprecedented $50 per barrel, we are facing heating bills that could climb 25 percent or more over last years. While I know that each of you will be doing your best to conserve energy in the buildings and plants that you operate, these high fuel costs may be very tough on the elderly in our city who already struggle to make ends meet. If you live in a neighborhood with elderly residents, I urge you to keep in touch with them if the weather gets cold. The City of Chicago and the surrounding suburbs all offer assistance to the elderly during cold snaps, but they cannot help unless someone notifies them.

Near the end of this month, we will all gather with friends and family to give thanks for the blessings we share. This past year has shown us much of the hardships and sufferings being experienced by so many in other countries. We are all truly blessed to reside within this great democracy. We are also truly blessed to have so many young men and women step forward to protect us from those in the world who would want to take from us all of the freedoms and liberty that we share. I hope that each of you will remember our men and women in uniform this Thanksgiving in your prayers and in your hearts.

I can never say enough about the generosity and goodwill we at the CEAC receive from our associate members and advertisers. Next month, the CEAC will be celebrating its 90th anniversary.

ithout the support of our advertisers and associate membership, we would never have reached this milestone in our history. I am truly grateful for their support and friendship to our association and I urge all of our active members to continue to show our gratitude by supporting our advertisers and associate members.

On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff of the CEAC, I want to extend to you all my deepest wish for you and your family to enjoy a happy and peaceful Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,

Joseph Belsan,
President, CEAC
